Our insulation is changing: wool to recycled cardboard

From late August 2026, we're gradually replacing wool insulation with a new insulation made from recycled cardboard offcuts.

Why are we making the change?
We developed this new insulation together with our packaging supplier, creating and testing a recycled-cardboard solution specifically for keeping your pup’s meals cold in transit.

The new liner is kerbside recyclable and easier to dispose of at home. Most importantly, we’ve tested it and confirmed it keeps your pup’s meals just as cold as wool, and in some trials, performed even better.

When will I see it?
The change is being rolled out gradually as we use our remaining wool stock, so you may continue to receive wool for a little while. No action is needed from you.

How do I dispose of the cardboard liner?
Pop it into your kerbside recycling bin. The liner has a moisture-resistant coating, so it shouldn't go into compost or your garden. If it's damp, let it dry before recycling. Recycling rules can vary by council, so check your local guidelines if you're unsure.

Is it safe around pets and kids?
Yes. The liner is non-toxic and safe to have around the home, but isn't designed to be eaten or played with, so keep it away from curious paws and little hands.
You may also notice small flecks of colour in the cardboard. These are a normal result of using recycled cardboard offcuts - it's not mould or contamination.

Can I still reuse it?
Absolutely! Before recycling it, you could reuse it as packing material, for craft projects or as temporary insulation. Just keep it dry and away from high heat.

Can I request wool instead?
We're not able to offer wool as an alternative as we transition to the new insulation.
